Ordering a portrait couldn't be simpler. There are a few variables that may or may not apply to you but I am here to help you through the process step by step and am always on hand to answer any questions you may have.

First of all, decide what type of portrait you would like. You can do this by looking through the prices page and also see some examples of previous work in the gallery. Don't forget to consider a themed portrait if you're after something a bit more unique. I'm always happy to help put together ideas for these if you aren't sure what theme to go for!

If you are unsure what size or style will work best, especially if you don't have the best photos, please contact me via email with your photos. I will never upsell a size if I do not think it is worth it and will always be honest about which size and style I think is most appropriate for you based on your choices.

The next step is to email me with your chosen style and size, as well as sending your photos.

If your photos aren't quite right for me to work from I will let you know straight away so we can discuss options. Ideally images should be as large and as clear as possible and show your pets face as you would want it drawn. However please don't worry if you only have old, small or pre digital photographs as I may still be able to work from them. Advice regarding sending photos via email or non-digital images via post can be given when you inquire.

If you have a favourite photograph of your pet, please make sure you mention this when sending them as I will always aim to work from this. Alternatively if you are unsure, I will advise which photograph I think will work best.
I often ask that you send multiple photos so I can get a better idea of your pets colouring and markings as well as being able to see their personalities.

If you want more than one pet in a portrait I do not need photos of them together although just one at any angle does tend to help identify any differences in coat or size.

If you need the portrait done by a certain date you must let me know straight away so I can confirm whether this can be done in time. Even when I am fully booked I am often able to move work around and may still be able to fit you in. However please do try and book in as far in advance as possible. As a guideline most gift commissions are booked around 8 weeks in advance and for Christmas commissions around 3-4 months in advance.
Any timeframes mentioned at the initial enquiry stage are likely to change if you do not book in straight away and will be discussed once your deposit has been received.

If you do not specify a date I will be able to give you a rough estimate for completion. Please bear in mind this may change if urgent portraits come in last minute. I only ever work on one portrait at a time to give it my full attention so once I am ready to start I will let you know, this gives you the opportunity to make any last minute changes and will then be around 2-3 weeks til completion.

As soon as you are ready to go ahead with your portrait I require a 10% deposit to book in. This is deducted from the total of your portrait. You will then have nothing else to pay until the portrait is complete.

Once your portrait is finished I will send you a photograph for you to approve, and also send information regarding the remaining balance plus postage. If you live outside the UK please let me know as I may need to adjust the postage fees.

Your portrait will then be shipped flat, unmounted and unframed,  courtesy of insured next day delivery. For 18” x 24” portraits postage will be more as these must be sent by courier but will still be posted flat and insured.

If you wish to pay in instalments this can be arranged, however please note that the portrait will not be sent until all payments have been made.
